Fatma Rekik - PhD student in Soil Science at Cornell UniversityCornell University Ph.D. student in Soil Science, Fatma Rekik, shares an update on her research which focuses on soil health and its effects on the socioeconomic, nutritional and qualitative (e.g., quality and tastiness of produce) dimensions of food and agriculture in developing nations.

Rekik is a member of the research group led by Dr. Harold van Es.

Rekik did field work in Jharkhand, India where she conducted a household level study on the mineral transmission from soil to humans through the rice crop intermediary. As an outcome of her research, she hopes to identify potential best soil management practices for better human nutrition.
